Does anyone else have nerve pain? If so, what do you do for it?
I have horrible nerve pain running the length of my shoulder blade- it burns and the skin is very sensitive to the touch. I’m guessing I have a pinched nerve. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :]

Arg, I hate this so much. The only thing that even helps a little bit is putting ice on the spots that hurt. It’s like treating an invisible sunburn.
jealous jealous jealous.
Last time I went to a rave.. i had a flare up 20 times worse than it’s ever been in my life for 2 weeks straight.
Oh, how i wish i could just be normal for once and maybe go out. ha.
My TMJ is fucking killing me.
Why is it that being obese is considered an illness but not fibromyalgia?
It is clearly full of hate. Good job. I think it’s funny that you took my “HATE TOWARDS FAT PEOPLE WHO ARE FAT BECAUSE THEY EAT TOO MUCH AND ARE TOO LAZY NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE AN ILLNESS OR TAKE MEDICATIONS AND GET DISABILITY WHEN THEY SHOULDN’T” post and turned it around about YOU BEING “FAT” BECAUSE YOU HAVE FIBRO (AN ILLNESS) AND TAKE MEDICATIONS.
Totally different topics.
Just, Jesus Christ. No where in that rant did it talk about people like you, at all.
This isn’t about YOU. Stop trying to turn it around on people who are fat because of medications and illnesses.
Please, if you’re going to try to enlighten my world, or try to “open my mind”.. how about you try to do it about the topic that i wrote about. Either way, fat people who are fat because of themselves (NOT BECAUSE OF MEDICATIONS/ILLNESSES) don’t deserve disability.
And actually, this post was about obese people getting to get to call their fatness an illness.
Just, stop. This isn’t about you and your weight.

Why is it that being obese is considered an illness but not fibromyalgia?
I CANT EVEN GET ON MEDICARE. Sorry you are fat, but it’s your own fault. I did nothing to deserve this illness; I didn’t do anything to get it. It’s not my life style that caused this; it’s not what I eat…
Clearly didn’t see how many times i wrote “Non-illness related obesity” “Not talking about the people who gained weight from prescriptions.
“I’mma start with “I hate handicapped parking abuser’s too” because I agree with you there, but, Medicare/aid has nothing to do with how disabled you are, and everything to do with your household income/insurance.”
So fat people are covered by this, why? I’m under the poverty level and i still can’t get medicare because im not disabled.
This is taken off of the medicare website.
“Medicare is our country’s health insurance program for people age 65 or older. Certain people younger than age 65 can qualify for Medicare, too, including those who have disabilities, permanent kidney failure or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease).”
“Most people age 65 or older who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States are eligible for free Medicare hospital insurance (Part A). You are eligible at age 65 if:
You receive or are eligible to receive Social Security benefits; or
You receive or are eligible to receive railroad retirement benefits; or
Your spouse is eligible; or
You or your spouse (living or deceased, including divorced spouses) worked long enough in a government job where Medicare taxes were paid; or
You are the dependent parent of a fully insured deceased child.
Before age 65, you are eligible for free Medicare hospital insurance if:
You have been entitled to Social Security disability benefits for 24 months; or
You receive a disability pension from the railroad retirement board and meet certain conditions; or
If you receive Social Security disability benefits because you have Lou Gehrig’s disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis); or
You worked long enough in a government job where Medicare taxes were paid and you meet the requirements of the Social Security disability program; or
You are the child or widow(er) age 50 or older, including a divorced widow(er), of someone who has worked long enough in a government job where Medicare taxes were paid and you meet the requirements of the Social Security disability program.
You have permanent kidney failure and you receive maintenance dialysis or a kidney transplant and:
You are eligible for or receive monthly benefits under Social Security or the railroad retirement system; or
You have worked long enough in a Medicare-covered government job; or
You are the child or spouse (including a divorced spouse) of a worker (living or deceased) who has worked long enough under Social Security or in a Medicare-covered government job.”
Medicade: If you receive cash assistance, are pregnant, over the age of 65, blind or disabled, a child between the ages of 6 and 19, or you suffer from breast or cervical cancer, you may qualify for Medicaid in North Carolina.
So tell me why fat people who LET ME SAY AGAIN, ARE FAT BECAUSE OF THERE LIFE STYLES, NOT BECAUSE OF ILLNESSES OR MEDICATIONS (since you clearly didn’t understand that the first 100 times i said that) can get disability, but we have to fight tooth and nail just to get any help?
“Fibro is covered by disability (stop spreading the myth that it’s not), but you’ve gotta sink your chits into the system, you have to EARN disability credits if you aren’t dying/blind/deaf/para. Also, you’ve got to spend years and years petitioning and appealing to get disability, fat or not.”
It’s not covered where I live, that’s fantastic if you got it where you are, but i can’t get it.
And no, i am not going to be fat. Sorry, but I’m not. You can think that because you are, but it’s not true. No one i know who has fibro is fat, at all. If anything, they are underweight. So you can take that little “fact” out of here. It is true that someone can become fat because of it, but i have control over my weight.
I am not talking about being ‘shamed’ for my illness. I have NO idea where you got that from?
I don’t even feel like continuing this conversation because of the fact you totally ignored the fact that im not talking about people who are fat from pills, or their illnesses.
oh my.

Brain fog caused me to walk into the shower with my pajama top still on
I am surprised I have not done this yet. I think my winner in facepalm is when I realized i forgot I was cooking something, went back to kitchen, and realized I had also forgotten to actually turn it on.

Why is it that being obese is considered an illness but not fibromyalgia?
Why is it that being obese is considered an illness but not fibromyalgia?
Let me say, I understand that there are some illnesses that cause people to gain weight. For instance fibromyaliga can make people gain weight. But for the people, who sit on their asses, eat more than they should, drink soda and coffee, and does nothing at all to change their life style make me more than sick to my stomach. How fucking dare they get disability, how dare they get to have the luxury of being recognized with a “real illness.”
“Do you know what the number one health risk in America is?
Obesity. They say we’re in the middle of an obesity epidemic.
An epidemic like it is polio. Like we’ll be telling our grand kids about it one day.
The Great Obesity Epidemic of 2004.
“How’d you get through it grandpa?”
“Oh, it was horrible Johnny, there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere.
Nobody knows why were getting fatter? Look at our lifestyle.
I’ll sit at a drive thru.
I’ll sit there behind fifteen other cars instead of getting up to make the eight foot walk to the totally empty counter.
Everything is mega meal, super sized. Want biggie fries, super sized, want to go large.
You want to have thirty burgers for a nickel you fat mother fucker. There’s room in the back. Take it!
Want a 55 gallon drum of Coke with that? It’s only three more cents.”
So excuse me for judging your lifestyle, excuse me for being fucking pissed when you get financial help, and excuse me for being disgusted in you.
“Obesity is now an illness and can be covered by Medicare, the federal health-insurance program for the elderly and disabled.”
I CANT EVEN GET ON MEDICARE. Sorry you are fat, but it’s your own fault. I did nothing to deserve this illness; I didn’t do anything to get it. It’s not my life style that caused this; it’s not what I eat that caused it. I can’t get up off my ass because my body is in horrible pain. You cant get off your ass because you are lazy, and don’t care.
What causes non-illness related obesity?
- Overeating
- Metabolism
- Inactivity
- Genetics
What causes Fibro?
- While there is no known cause for fibromyalgia, recent research has revealed new facts about the disease. Fibromyalgia patients have elevated levels of the nerve chemical signal substance P and nerve growth factor in their spinal fluid. They tend to have low levels of the brain nerve chemical serotonin and impaired non-rapid eye movement (non-REM) sleep phase (which likely explains the common feature of awakening fatigued and unrefreshed).
What is the cure for non-illness related obesity?
- Dieting.
- Exercising.
What is the cure for fibro?
- Nothing.
People say that this is an invisible illness. That is what it is called. Well you know what? Pain is visible.
- Pain can make you walk with a cane.
- You can see the pain on my face.
- All these tears I have cried for how bad it hurts, that’s visible.
- Not being able to walk correctly, that’s visible.
- Holding on to anything and everything to keep the weight off of your legs? That’s visible.
- Swollen joints
- Exhausted written on your face
- Shaking
Health problems of being overweight:
- Blount disease.
- Arthritis.
- Slipped capital femoral epiphyses (SCFE).

- Pseudotumor cerebri.
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

- coronary heart disease and stroke
- Metabolic syndrome
- Certain types of cancer
- Sleep apnea

Health problems from fibromyaliga
- Restless legs syndrome (RLS)
- Sleep apnea
- IBS
- Tension headaches
- Migraines
- Cognitive problem, often referred to as “fibro fog”
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Urinary frequency or burning

- Clinical depression
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Multiple sclerosis
- Post-traumatic stress syndrome
- Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)
- Chronic yeast infections
- Vulvodynia
- Chronic pain
- Being sick to your stomach all the time
- Hypoglycemia
- Sensitivity to cold, heat, noise, smell, taste.
- Obesity
Do you know what the difference between these the health issues of fibromyaliga and obesity?
- All those problems come with having this illness. It’s not something that CAN happen, or gradually happens. It pretty much comes all at once. You cannot control it. You cannot reverse it. You have all of this for life, and you just have to cope and manage. Each of these health problems has their own symptoms with it as well.
- All those problems are caused by obesity. It gradually happens over time. You can actually reverse some of these with medication, dieting, and exercising.
So I am sitting here. At this exact moment my bones in my arm are aching, my hands/arm/wrists are shaking, my skin hurts to touch, my jaw joint is aching, my finger joints are aching, and my knees have been aching bad all day. My lower back hurts. My tailbone is KILLING me. My stomach is nauseas. I just ate not even an hour ago and I’m shaking because I need to eat again. Every part on my body is tender to touch.
During winter time my joints literally freeze, becoming stiff and incredibly painful. No matter how much you have on. The cold air will give you horrible ear aches.
During the summer time/rainy weather, my joints swell up so big that make it hard to walk.
I have all these problems, yet I have to fight the world just to get Medicare, medicade, and any type of assistance. I have to watch people who can reverse their illnesses not reversing it, when I can’t reverse mine.
Now I am not one to judge a person who is bigger. I would never look at someone who is obese and just assume that they are lazy, that they eat too much, that they don’t do anything to help themselves. Many people are bigger because of medications they take and because of illnesses. I don’t judge people unless I see them doing certain things.
If you are obese, and you don’t even park in a handicap spot (even if you have the card) and park in front of a building that says “fire lane only, no parking” and then go do your shopping, I’m going to judge you. Because chances are I can barely walk and I parked in the back of the parking lot. Do you know how hard it is for me to get a handicap card, and you are just misusing yours?
If I see an obese person walking or jogging or exercising, I’m going to praise you for trying to turn your life around.
If I see an obese person who can barely breathe shoving fast food down their throat, I’m going to judge you.
How unfair it is that obesity is considered an illness. (Only if they did it to themselves.) When I did nothing to myself and my illness is far worse than obesity in so many ways, but I don’t even get the term “illness.”
ooooh luna.
